Views from Conor Pass on a sunny day

I ended up doing the Conor Pass in County Kerry twice this year. I have documented my first trip in this post: Dingle Peninsula Drive. My two experiences of the same road were quite different, especially the weather conditions. The first time it was breezy, cloudy and hazy, while the second time the weather couldn't have been any better. Not a single cloud in sight and you could even see the Skelling Islands from the top of the pass. Mind you, it was still windy.

This was a biking adventure and what a day for it. I was hoping we would have enough time to do the Slea Head Drive as well as Conor Pass. We only got as far as the Famine Cottages, between Coumeenoole Beach and Ventry, where we stopped for some food. It was 4 o'clock after we were fueled and ready to keep going. We decided to go back to Dingle and do the Conor Pass instead of continuing on the Slea Head Drive.

I will definitely be going back to finish the Slea Head Drive, it's only a matter of time. I will probably bring the car again. It's less hassle taking photos when you don't have to spend 10 minutes taking off and putting back on your helmet and gloves every 50 meters. I like to stop a lot, the views change so quickly. There have been times when I see a great shot, continue on driving until the shot disappears and then curse myself.

It was great to drive on the Conor Pass again, especially because we started from the Dingle side. The first time I drove from Cloghane to Dingle. The road is just as incredible, no matter what direction you drive it in or what weather you've been blessed with. There is yet so much more to explore around the Dingle Peninsula. For one, I'd love to take a boat out to the Blasket Islands, but we attempted to take a boat to the Skelligs a couple years ago and barely made it out alive. It's definitely a story for another day.
