August Landscapes

For this month's landscapes we'll start the journey in the Boggeragh Mountains where I live. From there we will travel west, then south and finally come back to North Cork. I took these first few photographs around home while walking the dogs. They love exploring this area as much as I do.

I took the photo below on our way back from Crag Cave in Castleisland, Co.Kerry. It was captured somewhere between Castleisland and Rathmore. I believe it's the Old Butter Road or the OId Kerry Road, that runs all the way to Cork City. I often travel the section of the Butter Road from the City to Derry Cross, but I have never explored the rest of it before. I love seeing the endless straight road in front me as it undulates with the landscape.

The next couple of photographs are from County Clare, the western edge of The Burren where Doolin Cave can be found. It was quite the spontaneous trip and we only had enough time to explore the caves, but at least we met some donkeys.

From the west we head south to Myrtleville and Fountainstown. We visited there last year, after I got my bike licence, they were my first spins on my own bike.

Before we head back to North Cork, we'll take an unexpected detour to Wicklow Mountains. I've only ever passed the area on the way to Dublin. Hopefully next year we'll have some time to explore the mountains on the other side of the country.

The rest of the photos in this post were taken in the Mullinhassig Wood & Waterfalls in County Cork. It's a stunning and ancient area we love exploring with the dogs. These photos were taken a few years ago and they were my first attempt at photographing water at slow shutter speeds.
